White Sox's Brett Lawrie: Officially placed on DL

Lawrie (hamstring) was officially placed on the disabled list Wednesday, Coleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

As expected, Lawrie will hit the DL after missing the last five days with a nagging hamstring issue. The stint is backdated to July 22, so he'll be eligible to return as early as August 6. Carlos Sanchez will come up from Triple-A to temporarily fill Lawrie's spot on the 25-man roster.
