Gonzalez (1-1) allowed only one run (a solo homer) on three hits while striking out five over six innings Thursday in a win over the Nationals.
Making his return to the rotation after a brief demotion to the bullpen, Gonzalez was supremely efficient, throwing 50 of his 78 pitches for strikes and not issuing a single walk. However, he's also been extremely inconsistent and this was only a spot start in place of the ailing Carlos Rodon, so there are no guarantees regarding Gonzalez's rotation spot moving forward.
