Gonzalez (2-6) worked six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on ten hits while striking out one in Friday's loss to the Orioles.
Friday's outing was Gonzalez's most ineffective start in more than a month. Although it qualifies as a quality start, the righty's performance against the O's pales in comparison to the six he threw in July while owning a 0.98 WHIP during that stretch. Last year, he went 0-4 with a 6.82 ERA in August and practically ruined his season in that single month. He'll look to avoid heading down that same path when he makes his next start Thursday in Kansas City. In two outings against the Royals this season, he's 0-1 with a 3.65 ERA and a .286 BAA.
