Yankees' Ben Gamel: Recalled from Triple-A

Gamel was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Thursday's game.

With Alex Rodriguez heading to the DL, and Carlos Beltran subsequently sliding over to serve as the primary DH, Gamel was recalled to offer outfield depth. He has useful speed, and is skilled at making contact, so he should see at least a handful of at-bats while Rodriguez is out. Brett Gardner (arm) is out of the lineup Tuesday, with Dustin Ackley and Aaron Hicks serving as the outfielders next to Jacoby Ellsbury, but Gamel should soon find his way into the lineup.
