Yankees' Nathan Eovaldi: Tommy John surgery a success

Eovaldi underwent successful Tommy John surgery Friday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. He also underwent a procedure to repair the flexor tendon in his right hand.

Eovaldi did not encounter any unexpected issues while undergoing the knife, but he faces a lengthy recovery timetable from what was Tommy John surgery number two for him. Eovaldi has already been ruled out for the entire 2017 season, so he will have an eye on getting healthy in time for spring training in 2018.
