Smith started at shooting guard and produced four points (1-4 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and one rebound across 12 minutes in Tuesday's 96-91 preseason loss to the Wizards.

Smith accumulated three fouls in the contest, but that didn't affect his playing time, as coach Tyronn Lue always intended to play the shooting guard for about a quarter in his preseason debut. The Cavaliers' preseason schedule has now concluded, but with a full week off until the regular season opener Oct. 25 against the Knicks, Smith should see more expanded minutes as he gets more practices under his belt. It won't be long before he's thrust back into his usual 30-minute role on the top unit.
