Ennis agreed Sunday with the Grizzlies on a two-year, $6 million contract, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

The Grizzlies were the second of three teams that Ennis saw run with in 2015-16, and though he was ultimately waived by the club in early March when the team needed to add a healthy center to the roster, the front office saw enough potential in the 26-year-old to bring him back in free agency. While former coach Dave Joerger didn't appear to view Ennis as a rotation-caliber player during his time with the Grizzlies last season, new bench boss David Fizdale might have more of an affinity for the small forward, who began his career with the Heat, with whom Fizdale previously served as an assistant. Ennis' contract is fully guaranteed, so he should have a legitimate chance at staking his claim to a rotation spot heading into the coming season. He might have already helped his cause with his strong finish to the previous campaign while he was member of the Pelicans; Ennis averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 three-pointers, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 31.3 minutes per game over nine contests in New Orleans.
