Tavares will be inactive for Tuesday's game against the Heat, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Tavares has seen action in just one of the Hawks' previous four games this season, and looks to be the 15th man on the roster. His absence likely means that Mike Muscala (ankle) is fit to serve as the Hawks' third-string center behind Al Horford and Tiago Splitter.
