Joseph is dealing with the flu and will not play in Friday's preseason finale against the Wizards, Ryan Wolstat of The Toronto Sun reports.
Joseph's absence will give head coach Dwane Casey an opporunity to look at Fred VanVleet, who is currently listed as the team's No. 3 point guard, in addition to the sharpshooting Brady Heslip as the team looks to make their final roster cuts. Joseph is expected to be healthy by the start of the regular season and open as the team's backup point guard behind All-Star Kyle Lowry.
