Payne (foot) could be "a few days away" from returning to action, Thunder television play-by-play broadcaster Brian Davis reports.

According to Royce Young of ESPN.com, Payne has yet to do much other than set shooting on the court, so he'll likely have to complete at least a few full practices before having a legitimate opportunity to return to the court. Payne has been sidelined since July after suffering a pair of foot fractures, though he didn't require surgery on his most recent one, which he sustained during a team scrimmage in September. Once he's healthy, Payne would likely serve as the Thunder's lead guard off the bench, perhaps pushing Semaj Christon and Anthony Morrow into more limited roles.
