The 49ers released Webb on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
After spending six years in the NFL, Webb failed to make the Cardinals' final roster last season and remained a free agent for the entire season. The 49ers signed the 31-year-old this offseason to provide veteran depth to a young secondary, but they will now move in a different direction. It is unclear what type of interest Webb will draw from the rest of the league.
