Williams, who signed a three-year $18 million deal in the offeseason, was released Monday by the Seahawks, the Seattle Times reports.

Williams was a huge bust for the Seahawks, who signed him to replace Byron Maxwell at right cornerback. He continually got beat downfield and struggled to master the team's coverage technique. He was benched in Week 11 after getting beat for a 36-yard completion by 49ers TE Vance McDonald and then was a healthy inactive the last two weeks. The Seahawks have allowed seven touchdowns and nine receptions of 25-plus yards to tight ends this season. Not all were Williams' fault, but the last two weeks without Williams (vs. PIT, MIN), the Seahawks allowed 11 receptions for 76 yards, and no touchdowns or 25-plus yard plays. DeShawn Shead replaced him as the starting right corner.
