Chargers' Keenan Allen: Placed on injured reserve

Allen (knee) has been placed on injured reserve with a torn right ACL, ending his season, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Allen missed the final eight games of last season due to a lacerated kidney, so his torn ACL suffered during Week 1 on Sunday unfortunately adds another serious malady to his injury history. While the Chargers will be devastated to lose Allen once again, they're also accustomed to playing without him recently. In Allen's absence, look for Tyrell Williams and Dontrelle Inman to become more involved as receivers to complement Antonio Gates, Travis Benjamin and Danny Woodhead, San Diego's most proven targets at the moment.
