Charles (knee) is a candidate to be held out of action in Thursday's preseason finale against the Packers, ESPN's Adam Teicher reports.
Per the report, Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West could also be rested Thursday. While Charles hasn't suffered any setbacks in his recovery from an ACL injury, recent reports via Teicher suggest that the veteran back has, at this stage, yet to fully regain his pre-injury role, which could lead to Charles being eased into action out of the gate this coming season. In such a scenario, Spencer Ware -- who has been seeing a good chunk of first-team snaps this summer -- is a candidate to see added touches come Week 1. Charles, who remains listed atop the team's backfield depth chart, thus remains a speculative lineup option until his early-season workload is further clarified.
