Smelter sat out Thursday's preseason opener against the Saints due to a concussion, Mike Kaye of FirstCoastNews.com reports.
Smelter first missed practice Monday and was unable to take the field the rest of the week. The 26-year-old will have to clear the league-mandated concussion protocol before returning to practice in full.
