Redskins running back Chris Thompson caught eight passes for 57 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets, adding two carries for 29 yards, in Thursday's 32-21 loss to the Giants.

With the Redskins trailing by multiple scores for most of the game, Thompson surprisingly led the team's running back with 39 snaps, compared to 26 for starter Matt Jones and just 12 for Alfred Morris, according to Pro Football Focus. Jones seems to have overtaken Morris as the lead back, but Thompson is still the top option for obvious passing-downs, with Thursday's performance further solidifying his role.
