The Blues are likely to continue rolling with Elliott and Jake Allen as a tandem in 2016-17, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Elliott absorbed the lion's share of the work in the playoffs as Allen had endured a lower-body injury at the tail end of the regular season. These goalies complement each other well, and the Blues didn't seem to miss a beat when either player was injured during the 2015-16 campaign. Elliott had the better ratios -- 2.07 GAA and .930 save percentage compared to a 2.35 GAA and .920 save mark for Allen -- but Allen is six years younger and figures to be with the club for the long haul. Elliott will be an unrestricted free agent after this upcoming season; until then, he's dirt cheap with a cap hit of just $2.5 million.
