Sanford skated on the left wing of the third line during the Blues' practice Thursday, Tom Timmerman of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He could make his Blues debut Friday night in Winnipeg.

Sanford, who was acquired in the Kevin Shattenkirk trade, was essentially filling in for Dmitri Jaskin (ankle) during practice. St. Louis coach Mike Yeo said he plans to deploy Sanford as a winger but ultimately sees the former Boston College Eagle as a center. Even if Jaskin is healthy enough to go Friday -- he's questionable at this point -- Yeo must be eager to see one of the team's new assets.
