Carlo skated on the Bruins' top defensive pairing along with Zdeno Chara at practice Tuesday.
With experienced blueliners Kevan Miller and Adam McQuaid banged up in advance of Thursday's regular-season opener against the Blue Jackets, it's an arrangement that could stick in the short term. Either way, Carlo, who turns 20 in November, appears to have earned a spot with the big club out of the gate, thanks to a strong preseason. At 6-foot-5, 203 pounds, Carlo is a rangy blueliner who plays with the poise of a veteran. With his offensive game a work in progress, Carlo isn't on the fantasy radar, but the No. 37 pick overall in the 2015 NHL Draft is already well on the way toward establishing himself as a core member of the Bruins' blue line down the road.
