Shaw, a pending restricted free agent, was tendered a qualifying offer from the Canadiens on Monday.

No surprise here, as Shaw was acquired from Chicago on draft day last Friday. His ability to get under the skin of the opposition should help a Montreal team that really needs to assert itself within that competitive Atlantic Division. Next season will be Shaw's sixth in the NHL. He already has two Stanley Cup wins under his belt, having won it all with the Blackhawks in 2013 and 2015. In 322 career regular-season games -- all with Chicago -- the center has amassed 137 points (70 goals, 67 assists) and 300 PIM.
