Byron continues to battle a lingering hip injury and could be placed on long-term injured reserve to start the season, Marc Antoine Godin of The Athletic reports.
Byron hasn't gotten into any preseason action yet, with the Canadiens scheduled for just two more exhibition matches. The 33-year-old was limited to 27 games last season, and it seems like he's trending toward missing more time to begin 2022-23.
