Kennedy signed a professional tryout contract with the Devils in September, but wasn't able to secure a spot on the team's 23-man roster in training camp. With Tuomo Ruutu (foot) and Patrik Elias (knee) both still on injured reserve, New Jersey could use some additional depth at forward. Kennedy, who tallied 14 points in 38 NHL games last season, will join the Devils in Calgary on Wednesday for practice.
