Despite seeing significant time on the Ducks' first line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, Hagelin has just one point -- an assist -- and a minus-3 rating in seven games this season. Nonetheless, he remains on the top line Monday, NHL.com reports.

The Ducks have also experimented with Jiri Sekac and Patrick Maroon on left wing with the Perry-Getzlaf duo, but they haven't gotten any more out of them than they have from Hagelin. The point potential by osmosis is there as long as he's on that trio, but Hagelin isn't sticking with them on the power play, as he's averaging just 11 seconds a game with the man advantage. Don't be misled by his consecutive seasons of 17 goals as a Ranger -- Hagelin did that in what was typically a third-line role, and he's neither a particularly good shooter nor a particularly slick passer. His fortunes will change for the better at some point, but there should be no expectation that Hagelin will break out as a legitimate top-liner.
