Murphy (concussion) was at the Hurricanes' training facility Wednesday and head coach Bill Peters is hoping that the defenseman can return soon, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.

The injury knocked Murphy out of last Saturday's contest against the Flyers, and he must go through the league-mandated concussion protocol process before he would be able to return to the ice for another game. His timetable for a return remains unclear, but it's worth noting that the Hurricanes have the following upcoming home contests: this Friday against Toronto and Sunday, facing the Kings.
