Ryan (triceps) was on the ice for Detroit's first practice of training camp Thursday, The Athletic's Max Bultman reports.

Ryan underwent surgery in late April to address his injured triceps, but he evidently was able to make a full recovery in time for the first practice of camp. The veteran winger is attending camp on a professional tryout offer, so he'll need to perform well in order to secure a contract with the Red Wings for the 2021-22 campaign. Ryan picked up seven goals and 14 points in 33 games with Detroit in 2020-21.
