A South African bakery is apologizing today after posting photos on its Facebook and Instagram pages of cookies decorated with pictures of alleged murderer Oscar Pistorius.
The cookies had captions reading: "And the Oscar goes to ... jail," and one of a bathroom door with a sign reading "Caution using toilet please don't shoot!" The photos were soon deleted, and Charly's Bakery took to Twitter to make amends.
We seriously got it wrong with the #OscarMedia Meme cookies & we are hanging our collective heads in shame. #WeAlwaysRememberReeva

The #OscarMedia cookies were NOT for sale. Our intention was to stimulate debate as we always do with topical issues in the media

We messed up completely & we own our mistake. We apologise sincerely & we regret any offence we have caused to the Steenkamp family.

Pistorius will go on trial for the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, next week.
