Back in September, Landon Donovan's coach with the LA Galaxy, Bruce Arena, said Donovan was probably headed to his final World Cup.

On Monday, Donovan echoed that sentiment.

"It's hard for me to imagine, sitting here, that I'll be able to walk in four years, much less play soccer," Donovan told ESPNFC.com. "So I would guess that this is my last chance of making a World Cup."

Donovan, who will be 32 after this summer's tournament in Brazil, has played in three World Cups already, and, with 57 international goals, is currently the national team's all-time top scorer.

When speaking with the website he acknowledged the fact that there are several up-and-coming midfielders looking for spots on the national team.

And while Donovan seemed content to call the '14 World Cup his last, he didn't completely rule out a return in 2018, when he'll be 36.

"You never know," he said. "We'll see, but if it is [my last World Cup], I want to make sure that it's very enjoyable and I take advantage of it."
