Tour de France: Matteo Trentin wins Stage 7 in photo finish
Matteon Trentin just got past Peter Sagan to win Stage 7.
Italy's Matteon Trentin won Stage 7 of the Tour de France Friday by the slimmest of margins over Peter Sagan.
It seemed likely that Sagan was finally going to take a stage after a few near-misses, but a sprint at the finish saw him edged by Trentin at the last moment. As you can see below, it was very, very close.
The final moments of Friday's stage were chaotic, to say the least. Sagan and Greg Van Avermaet were out in front, seemingly out of reach. The peloton was able to catch up, however, and there was a bunch at the front. The lead changed hands, there was a crash, but when it was said and done, it appeared Sagan had regained control and won the stage.
But he did not, and he had to settle for second best. He's now third in the general classification, with Vincenzo Nibali hanging on to the yellow jersey. Andrew Talansky is the highest placing American, and he sits in seventh place.

What else? Sagan and Trentin separated by thismuch at the finish line.
Hills! As you can see, Stage 8 is a bit more vertical than the others thus far, and that won't change throughout the weekend.
