The Yankees' season will come to an end on Sunday, which means Alex Rodriguez's appeal of his 211-game suspension will begin Monday. The third baseman made it clear he was looking forward to getting the appeal process started while talking to reporters Saturday.
"Let's get it on," said Rodriguez (Associated Press). "It starts on Monday. We've got to face it head on ... I'll be there every day. I'm fighting for my whole life, my whole legacy. I hope everyone is there."
The appeal is expected to last several sessions, and a ruling may not be handed down until November or December. Arbitrator Frederic Horowitz can uphold, overturn or reduce Rodriguez's suspension. The 211-game ban covers ties to Biogenesis and an alledged attempt to interfere with MLB's investigation.
Rodriguez, 38, will not play at all this weekend due to hamstring and calf injuries. He hit .244/.348/.423 (112 OPS+) with seven home runs in 44 games after returning from left hip surgery.
There are four years and $86 million left on A-Rod's contract.
