Braves outfielder Jonny Gomes made his first start in more than a week Thursday against the Nationals.
He had not started since June 16 as the Braves faced seven right-handed starters. Although, Gomes was also dealing with a quad injury in that span.
Gomes hasn't had a multihit game since May 25. He is batting .178 (8 for 45) in that span. He also hasn't homered in 31 games (16 starts).
