Brett Hayes cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Omaha on Friday, according to the Kansas City Star.
The Royals designated Hayes for assignment Sunday. He batted .231/.280/.441 in 238 at-bats with Triple-A Omaha before the move.
