Braves catcher David Ross has been in the majors for 11 seasons. Prior to Wednesday night, he had accrued 635 games, 1,890 plate appearances, 389 hits and 206 walks. Oh, and zero stolen bases. He went into Wednesday 0-for-3 in stolen base attempts during his entire career.

In the seventh inning Wednesday night, that all changed. Ross stole a base. MLB.com has the video evidence

The best part is Ross was able to take the base with him, as the Phillies grounds crew let him have it after the game concluded.

“I’m going to have it in my house so everybody knows I at least got one,” Ross said (ajc.com). “I’m pretty proud of it. I got a good jump; that’s for sure. I better get a good jump if I’m going to steal a base.”

Ross was ranked fifth on the all-time list of plate appearances among players with zero stolen bases. Russ Nixon (1957-1968) racked up 2,715 PAs without a steal. Chris Snyder is second all-time -- and the active leader -- with 2,375 PAs.
