CHICAGO -- We all know by now -- thanks to years of conditioning -- what the wind at Wrigley Field can do. When it's blowing it, it's a veritable pitcher's paradise that can make would-be home runs morph into cans of corn. When it's blowing out hard, like screaming out, it's Coors Field but with much shorter power alleys.

For Game 1 of the NLCS between the Dodgers and Cubs, it's screaming. Take a look:

That's straight out to left field. The current reading, as I type this, is 16 miles per hour and it should remain in the mid-teens throughout the game, per the forecast.

It's really not cold, either, with 69 degrees being the temperature one hour to game time.

Quite simply, this is the opposite of what we so often see in late September when the conditions are ripe for pitcher's duel. Any deep fly to left field is going to end up in the seats.

Now, obviously it could still be low scoring. Baseball is funky like that, but the wind is definitely something to watch as we brace for what promises to be fun NLCS Game 1 in a lively Wrigley Field.
