Red Sox manager John Farrell has considered pitching prospect Drake Britton as a strong candidate to make Sunday's start against the Athletics, according to the Boston Herald. Other candidates include right-handers Brandon Workman and Steven Wright, who are already with the club.
Britton is scheduled to start Sunday for Triple-Pawtucket. He went 7-6 with a 3.51 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP over 17 appearances (16 starts) at Double-A Portland. He allowed five runs on 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings during his first start at Triple-A.
