The Braves beat the Marlins for the second consecutive night Wednesday, this time 2-1, but it may have come at a price. First baseman Freddie Freeman had to leave the game after being hit by Jose Reyes' throw in the fourth inning. Initial reports have Freeman with a bruised index finger and list him as day-to-day. AJC.com reports that Freeman had his finger in a splint after the game and will see a hand specialist Thursday -- where he'll also get X-rays.
“Finally started to feel good with my eyes,” said Freeman, in reference to missing time last week with vision issues (AJC.com). “Then seven or eight at-bats later this happens. It’s been an up-and-down season. Hopefully it’s not bad. Just hope for the best.”
Freeman, 22, came into Wednesday hitting .250/.300/.448 with eight homers, 35 RBI and 33 runs in 48 games. He was 1-for-2 with an RBI Wednesday night.
If Freeman needs to miss any time, it'll be Eric Hinske filling in at first base.
