With David Hale no longer an option to start on Friday, the Rockies will turn to right-hander Gonzalez Germen to make the start against the Braves, according to MLB.com. The Rockies claimed Germen off waivers from the Cubs on Tuesday, but he has not pitched since July 2 with Triple-A Iowa.

Germen has never started a big-league game in his three-year career, and his last minor-league start came in 2012 when he was in the Mets' system.

Hale, who was originally scheduled to start on Friday, was forced into action on Thursday after a two-hour rain delay knocked Kyle Kendrick from the game. Hale eventually left that game with a groin strain.
