Sunday went from being a great day to a bad one pretty fast for Angels reliever LaTroy Hawkins. He entered the game in the ninth inning with a runner on and one out, holding a one-run lead. Omar Vizquel hit a liner right back off Hawkins, who was able to catch the ball -- after it hit his pitching hand -- and double Jeff Mathis off first base to end the game. The Angels beat the Blue Jays 4-3 and Hawkins had his first save of the season.

And now the bad. I'll let Hawkins tell you himself, via Twitter:

Yeah, that's his pitching hand, so expect a disabled list stint. He did add that specific recovery time won't yet be known until Monday.

Worse news for the Angels was that closer Scott Downs left with an apparent knee injury before Hawkins took over. There's no word yet on the severity of Downs' injury, but that likely leaves Jordan Walden and Jason Isringhausen as the healthy back-end guys, for now.
