The Mariners have demoted pitcher Hector Noesi.

In 17 starts this season, Noesi -- acquired in the Michael Pineda deal -- went just 2-11 with a 5.77 ERA.

The Mariners have called up outfielder Carlos Peguero to take Noesi's roster spot. The 25-year-old Peguero has hit for a ton of power in Triple-A. He has 17 home runs in just 209 plate appearances this season.

Noesi's demotion highlights the struggles of the four players involved in the Pineda trade. Pineda and pitcher Jose Campos are on the disabled list for the Yankees. With Noesi in Triple-A, the only player contributing in the majors is Mariners' catcher Jesus Montero. But Montero has failed to live up to expectations this season, hitting just .245/.281/.376.
