The seemingly injury-cursed Mets couldn't even enjoy one victory without losing someone. Newly-acquired center fielder Andres Torres sustained a left calf strain during the Mets' 1-0 victory over the Braves Thursday. He'll now be placed on the 15-day disabled list, the Mets announced via press release Friday.

Outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis will be recalled to take Torres' place on the roster.

Torres, 34, walked and scored the Mets' lone run Thursday on a David Wright single.

With Torres down, the Mets could use Scott Hairston in center, or just throw Nieuwenhuis out there. The 24-year-old bats left-handed and hit .298/.403/.505 in Triple-A last season.
