ROSTER MOVES
Dodgers: They optioned catcher Tim Federowicz and purchased the contract of veteran backstop Miguel Olivo from Triple-A, the team announced.
Padres: Jedd Gyorko was reinstated from the paternity leave list.
Rockies: Tyler Chatwood was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an elbow strain (denverpost.com). Look for Jhoulys Chacin -- who has finished his rehab assignment -- to slide into his rotation spot.
Tigers: The club announced that it would promote Robbie Ray from the minors to make his big-league debut Tuesday in the rotation spot of the injured Anibal Sanchez. Ray came over in the Doug Fister trade this past winter. The lefty is 3-2 with a 1.59 ERA in five Triple-A starts this year.
INJURY UPDATES
Blue Jays: Brett Lawrie missed Wednesday's game with a sore back (MLB.com). Melky Cabrera left Wednesday's game with a shin contusion after being hit by a pitch (MLB.com).
Brewers: Matt Garza had to leave his start due to a bruised thumb, but says he'll be ready for his next start (MLB.com). Also, after being hit in the face by Ryan Braun with a bat (by accident) this past weekend, Jean Segura returned to action with a pinch-hit double (box score).
Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw threw 86 pitches in five innings in Double-A. He allowed two runs (1 earned) on six hits and struck out nine (MiLB.com box score). Expect this to be his final tuneup before joining the Dodgers.
Giants: Angel Pagan was given a day off Wednesday, due in part to a sore knee, though it was a scheduled day off (MLB.com).
Indians: Jason Kipnis has an abdominal injury, but the club hopes he'll avoid a DL stint.
Nationals: Doug Fister could join the rotation May 7.
Reds: Aroldis Chapman will work one inning Thursday in his first rehab game and should be back with the Reds in 7-10 days (cincinnati.com).
Royals: Bruce Chen's schedule start Saturday is in jeopardy due to pain in his gluteal muscle. He'll attempt a side session Thursday (MLB.com).
MISCELLANY
Joel Hanrahan: The market for the All-Star closer -- who is recovering from Tommy John surgery -- includes the Tigers, Yankees, Rangers, Red Sox and Rockies.
A's: Catcher Derek Norris is red-hot at the plate, but manager Bob Melvin isn't planning on straying from his platoon behind the plate (MLB.com).
Braves: With Mike Minor and Gavin Floyd set to return before next week, the Braves' once thin rotation is now a surplus of starters.
