Someone had to go in order to make room for the newly acquired Wandy Rodriguez in the Pittsburgh rotation, and that someone is Kevin Correia.

The Pirates, reports Michael Sanserino of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, have dispatched Correia to the bullpen so that Rodriguez can be slotted in among A.J. Burnett, James McDonald, Erik Bedard and Jeff Karstens.

On the season, Correia in 108.1 innings has a 4.24 ERA, which isn't particularly good for an NL hurler who's spent the majority of his time in pitcher-friendly PNC. Correia hasn't worked regularly as a reliever since 2007, but, as one would expect, he's been more effective when coming off the bullpen than when working as a starter.

As for Rodriguez, he'll make his first start as a Pirate on Saturday against the Astros, his former team.
