Play in Monday afternoon's Giants-Rockies game at Coors Field was halted between the fourth and fifth inning after a fan was apparently hit by a Michael Cuddyer foul ball in the bottom of the fourth inning. The woman was placed on a backboard in the stands and was taken off the field on a cart.

The woman, Judith Reese, was taken to a Denver hospital and later released, according to the Associated Press.

"I want to thank the fans, the paramedics and the community for their instant support," Reese said, according to a news release from the hospital.

Play was delayed for roughly five minutes, with Matt Reynolds entering the game for the Rockies with Aubrey Huff at the plate.

"The ball came too fast and nobody could respond," registered nurse Kara Jackson, who was sitting behind the fan, told the AP. "It was flat; it wasn't a fly ball."

Cuddyer, making his Rockies debut, said he was shaken by the accident.

"I saw the ball off my bat, saw the stands part ways and boom -- saw it hit the head," said Cuddyer (via the AP). "I hope (she) is all right and everything is well. It's tough. That's the scary part of this."
