The Rays have acquired first baseman/outfielder Marc Krauss from the Angels. The Angels will receive minor-league pitcher Kyle Winkler in exchange, the Rays announced on Thursday.
Krauss, 27, has spent most of the season in Triple-A, batting .289 with four home runs in 47 games for Salt Lake City. He did appear in 11 games for the Angels this year, going 5 for 35 with a home run.
"Marc is a disciplined hitter who brings left-handed power to our club,'' Rays baseball operations VP Erik Neander said, per the Tampa Bay Times. "He's a good fit for our present roster and we expect him to help us against right-handed pitching, primarily at first base."
Krauss will be added to the Rays' 25-man roster, with Nick Franklin being optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
