The Braves and Pirates agreed to a trade Saturday sending outfielder Christian Marrero to Pittsburgh and infielder Brian Friday to Atlanta, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

Friday, primarily a shortstop, gives the Braves depth at the position as they deal with injuries (Andrelton Simmons, Jack Wilson) at the major league level. The 26-year-old owns a .263/.352/.372 line in three Triple-A seasons.

Marrero, 25, gives the Pirates a replacement at Triple-A for the newly-promoted Starling Marte. A corner outfielder, Marrero reached Triple-A this season but was demoted back to Double-A after hitting just .247/.347/.392 for Indianapolis.
