Report: Reds and Nationals pursuing Mike Gonzalez

Mike Gonzalez, who was rumored to have 10 teams interested in signing him earlier in the offseason, is being pursued by the Reds and Nationals.

The Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals are continuing to pursue free-agent relief pitcher Mike Gonzalez, according to ESPN.com's Jim Bowden.

The 34-year-old left-handed reliever made 47 appearances for the Nationals in 2012, posting a 3.03 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 35 2/3 innings while striking out 39 batters.

The Reds are looking to add a left-handed presence to the team's bullpen, as Sean Marshall is currently projected to be the team's sole lefty with the expected move of Aroldis Chapman to the rotation.

Gonzalez would likely fill a setup role for the team, as all but four innings pitched with the Nationals last season came in the seventh inning or later.
