Hoping to catch lightning in a bottle, the Tigers have claimed first baseman Marc Krauss, who was designated for assignment by the Rays on Saturday.
Krauss could be used as a short-term replacement for injured slugger Miguel Cabrera. He must hit far better than he did for the Angels and Rays this season to be of much help. Krauss has just six hits in 45 at-bats this season and owns a .192 lifetime average.
