Here comes a 57-mph "Uncle Charlie" courtesy of Cubs right-hander Carlos Villanueva, and Jayson Werth of the Nationals is about to be left in what appears to be a state of profound existential crisis ...

True fact: The game was delayed for almost 45 minutes while Werth was locked in near-paralysis at the plate -- a total frozen state save for those those palsied leg-jimmies you see above. Mr. Werth will now move to Paris, dress solely in black turtlenecks and while away his meaningless days smoking cloves in his artist's loft and watching the absurd human traffic pass under his window in a numbed dance.

That's actually not a true fact, but the point stands. And the point is that on August 21, 2013 Jayson Werth quite possibly glimpsed the abyss.
