Twins center fielder and former top prospect in baseball Byron Buxton is still working through his hitting skills at the big-league level. He does not, however, need to work on his speed. We already knew this, but it was on display Saturday in Target Field against the White Sox.

First up, Buxton steals second and then scores on an errant throw, including a leap over the catcher's attempted tag.

That's some fine athleticism there. It was on display a few innings later when he ran down a ball that should've been a Melky Cabrera double:

Yowza. That's covering some ground.

Buxton brought a .203/.255/.332 line into Saturday. He'd been better but still not good in July (.231/.317/.327). Strikeouts have been a problem all along, especially for a guy with a skill set you'd love to see hitting leadoff. He hit really well during his stint in Triple-A (.336/.403/.603) and is still only 22 years old, so there's time for him to develop the bat at the big-league level.

As for on the bases and the range in center, those tools are as good as anyone's.
