This has been a very difficult season for the rebuilding Padres. So difficult that they're currently without GM A.J. Preller, who is serving a suspension for essentially withholding medical information during trade talks.

Lately though, rookie outfielder Hunter Renfroe has been a much-needed bright spot. He hit two home runs against the Dodgers on Tuesday night, and in his follow-up act Wednesday, Renfroe hit a home run onto the roof of the Western Metal Supply building in left field at Petco Park.

Good gravy that was some blast. Statcast measured it at 434 feet, and gosh, look at the arc on that thing. Renfroe hit that ball high and far. Impressive power, that young man has.

Renfroe, 24, was the 13th-overall pick in the 2013 draft. MLB.com ranks him as San Diego's third-best prospect, and says he has "plus-plus raw power to his pull side, a product of his bat speed and physical strength and an upper-cut swing that's conducive to clearing fences."

He sure showed it Wednesday night.
