Friday night's slate of games gave us something we've never seen before. Heck, something baseball has never seen before: a 3-3-5 triple play!

The Nationals pulled it off against the Giants, turning a bases-loaded, no-out situation into an averted threat in a hurry. Brandon Crawford was the unfortunate soul who started the whole mess, lining a ball to Ryan Zimmerman. Zimmerman then stepped on the bag for out number two before lobbing a weak (albeit sort of accurate) throw across the diamond for the third out:

To be fair to Zimmerman, who used to play third base full-time before having to transition to first, it's not like a rocket was required to finish the job there.

In addition to being the first 3-3-5 triple play, it was also the first triple play ever turned by the Nationals. So all-around, it was a nice night for history.
